VINCI Laboratory

The VINCI laboratory is a group of faculty and students interested in the generation of natural language and related phenomena. As well as developing the VINCI natural language generation system, we have undertaken studies of linguistic phenomena, including second language learning, linguistic humour, second language performance errors, semantic expressions and generation of texts, and prosodic generation.

The principal members of the laboratory are Greg Lessard and Michael Levison, who can be contacted at:

levison@cs.queensu.ca

These pages describe the ivi/VINCI system, discuss some applications, provide documentation, and list publications. Where copyright permits, we have also provided access to the papers themselves. A current version of the software can be downloaded free. A limited tutorial can also be accessed via the Documentation pages.

We began rewriting the VINCI manual in December 2006. Many of the revised pages are now posted here. Others will be added section by section as each is completed. We will also update the publication list as time permits.
