Ahmed E. Hassan

I am the NSERC/RIM Industrial Research Chair in Software Engineering. My research interests lie in the intersection of systems and software engineering. At Queen's, I lead the Software Analysis and Intelligence Lab (SAIL).

At SAIL, my students and I are actively investigating approaches and creating techniques to support practitioners who are producing, maintaining and evolving large scale complex software systems. We aim to make the lives of these practitioners more productive, more cheerful and more predictable.

Research at SAIL encompasses many of the following areas: mining software repositories (e.g., CVS), software evolution and architecture, performance engineering, capacity engineering, and debugging and monitoring of distributed systems.

SAIL is funded through generous support from Research In Motion (RIM), the School of Computing, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Ontario Research Fund (ORF), and the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).

The SAIL lab has several open positions for Post-doctoral fellows, Master's and PhD students. Refer to SAIL's website for additional information on how to apply.
