In CISC 124, we move on from basic imperative programming and concentrate on object-oriented techniques. In particular, we explore the object-oriented features of Java and the Java API.

The required text is Java: An Introduction to Computer Science & Programming (second edition), by Walter Savitch. Please be sure you have a copy of the second edition. Some courses in the past have used the first edition, so there may be copies of the first edition on campus. There were many changes between the editions which will be important to CISC 124. Make sure the book you get looks like the one on the left.
