Research
Groups
The Software Technology Laboratory includes the following
research groups:
- Engineering
Interactive Systems (EQUIS) Lab
|
The EQUIS Lab is under
the direction of Dr.
T.C. Nicholas Graham and conducts research on
how software engineering can contribute to the design
and development of more usable computer systems. Current
projects include the Workspace Model, the Software
Design Board, and Model-Based Testing of Collaborative
Systems.
|
Additionally,
other labs with in Queen's University's conduct
software related research.
- Software Engineering Research Laboratory (SERL)
- Diagram Recognition
Laboratory
|
Under
the direction of Dr.
Dorothea Blostein, the Diagram Recognition Lab focuses
on developing software for converting digitized images
of documents to computer usable formats. We place special
emphasis on interpretation of diagrams, in which two-dimensional
arrangements of symbols are used to convey meaning.
Currently we work with recognition of UML diagrams,
recognition of mathematics notation, and recognition
of business cards. We are using TXL to develop robust,
scalable methods for representing the syntax and semantics
of diagram notations.
