The focus of recent research has been in the area of artificial intelligence and applications in biomedicine. In particular, knowledge representation and machine learning techniques have been developed to represent and reason about images and diagrams. These techniques have been applied to problems in domains such as protein structure determination, crystal growth and medical diagnosis.
