Dr. Mohammad Zulkernine is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Software Reliability and Security in the School of Computing of Queen’s University, Canada, where he leads the Queen’s Reliable Software Technology (QRST) research group. Dr. Zulkernine has taught and received his education in four countries of three continents (Bangladesh, Japan, Canada, and Italy). He received BSc from Bangladesh (BUET), MEng from Japan, and PhD from Canada (Waterloo). Dr. Zulkernine joined Queen’s in 2003 and spent his sabbatical as a visiting professor at the University of Trento, Italy and as a research scientist at Irdeto Canada. He is also cross-appointed at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Queen’s. Dr. Zulkernine is a senior member of the IEEE and the ACM, and a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Zulkernine’s current research focuses on building reliable and secure software systems for cloud, connected vehicles, mobile operating systems, and internet of things. His research projects are supported by a number of provincial and federal research funding agencies and industry partners. He has published more than 175 peer-reviewed research papers and
led 25 research projects while collaborating in a number of industry-supported multi-university projects including European Union and Canada-Africa international projects. Dr. Zulkernine has been at leadership positions such as general chair, organizing chair and program chair of many major conferences in his research area. At Queen’s, Dr. Zulkernine has supervised more than 60 MSc and PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. He received distinguished graduate supervision award and some of his supervised students have won conference best paper and distinguished thesis awards.
