Programming Projects

The course project is intended to give students an opportunity to build an application with a database management system. Students may choose to build a web-based application that uses DB2/UDB or to build an application that uses some of the extended features of DB2/UDB, such as the multimedia or XML. Projects are done in teams of 2 students.

Project Deliverables

Project Proposal - Due September 29, 2003

Provide a 2 - 3 page proposal for your project describing what is to be implemented, what is the environment you intend to use and what you hope to learn. Also include an initial set of milestones to be achieved or tasks that have to be accomplished and an explanation of how the work will be broken up among the project members.

Design Proposal - Due November 6, 2003

Provide a 3 - 5 page proposal outlining the design of your software. Also provide a refined implementation plan for the project.

Summary Report and Demo - Due Week of December 1 -5, 2003

Provide a 7 - 10 page final report summarizing the work accomplished in the project. Include a user's guide for the software produced. Provide a demo of your software.
