Hi,
I just have a few questions about
assignments and the tutorials in this
course.
i) Tutorials: I checked my qcard like
you told us too and it said that I
have a 2 hour lab for cisc 235, so
would this be the tutorial that you are
referring to? Or are tutorials going to
be set at a later date?
Yes
what I referred to as tutorials are called 2 hour labs on QCARD. You have three
lectures and one lab per week. Nothing else. Labs begin next
week.
ii) Assignments: You said, and the
website mentions it too, that we are
given our assignments, (the programs
that we have to write), in our
tutorials by our TA's. What is the
assignment materials folder for and why
does it have an assignment 1 file
already in it?
Assignment #1 is an
exception. It is the only common assignment that all of you do. You need to do
assignment 1.
iii) Assignments: I just want to make
sure about what we are using to
program. You said in class, I least I
think you did, that we are using C++
to make programs. On webct it says that
we are going to be using ready to
program which is for java. So are we
going to be using both at some point
or is the site wrong? If it is C++ are
you overly concerned with what we
use?
You must write all programs using C++.
Since you will be demonstrating your program in the lab you need to use a
version of C++ that compiles on the lab
machines.
Mary McCollom points out on
the WebCT bulletin board
that:
"I believe that both GCC
with an accompanying editor called JFE and Visual C++,
at least, are there. The JFE editor
with the GCC compiler are available free via Packman, as
well."
If you want to use a different
compiler/IDE.
you should clear it with your
Lab TA
