Research Contributions
The focus of recent research has been in the area of artificial
intelligence and applications in biomedicine. In particular,
knowledge representation and machine learning techniques
have been developed to represent and reason about images
and diagrams. These techniques have been applied to
problems in domains such as protein structure determination, crystal
growth and medical diagnosis.

Co-founder: Molecular Mining Corporation
Molecular Mining was founded and incorporated in 1999.
The company specialized in the exploration and prediction
of biomolecular pathways and complex phenotypes from
gene expression, proteomics, SNPs and high-throughput
screening data. Results were applied to the identification
and prioritization of disease markers and drug targets,
predictive toxicology and in silico drug screening.

Teaching
During my time at Queen's, my teaching has focussed
on the areas of artificial intelligence, mathematical
logic and bioinformatics. This has involved the
teaching of foundational material as well as
advanced applications.
Recently I was the primary developer of
a new program: Biomedical Computing
(http://www.cs.queensu.ca/biomed/), a
Bachelor of Science Honors, Subject of Specialization
Degree. This has involved extensive curriculum and
course development as it is the first program of
its kind in Canada.
