Cloth Shading

The goal of this research is to shade irregular surfaces, such as cloth. The principal problem is to compute, for each point on the surface, how much of the outside environment is visible. It's from the outside environment that the direct illumination arrives, so the shading of each point can be estimated if the visible portion of the outside environment is known.
