biography
Dr. Mohammad Zulkernine is a Professor and Graduate Chair at the School of Computing of Queen’s University, Canada. Dr. Zulkernine is also cross-appointed at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Queen’s. He was awarded Canada Research Chair (2011, 2016) in Software Reliability and Security. He joined Queen’s in 2003 and spent his sabbatical at the University of Trento, Italy and Irdeto Canada. He has worked and received his education in four countries of three continents (Bangladesh, Japan, Canada, and Italy). He received BSc from Bangladesh (BUET), MEng from Japan, and PhD from Canada (Waterloo).
Dr. Zulkernine leads the Queen’s Reliable Software Technology (QRST) research group. His current research focuses on building reliable and secure software systems for connected and autonomous vehicles, mobile operating systems, and internet of things. His research projects are supported by provincial and federal research funding agencies and industry partners. He has published over 225 peer-reviewed research papers and led 33 research projects while collaborating in a number of industry-supported multi-university projects including European Union and Canada-Africa international projects. Dr. Zulkernine has supervised 135 MSc and PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, research associates, and senior undergraduates. He received the Excellence in Graduate Student Supervision award of Queen's University and Distinguished Graduate Supervision Award of the School of Computing. Some of his supervised students have won conference best paper and distinguished thesis awards.
