Oct. 23

Assignment 2 will be returned in class tomorrow Wednesday. Comments from the TA have been posted on the assignments page. The solutions were posted earlier.
Recall that on Thursday Oct. 25 we have no class due to the fall term study break.

Oct. 14

Recall that the tutorial takes place on Tuesday October 16, 5:30 - 6:30 PM in Dunning 10.
Also part of the class on Wednesday will be used for review for the midterm.

Oct. 10

Assignment 3 has been posted on the assignments page. Assignment 3 is due in class on November 5.

Reminder:

The midterm test takes place during our class on Thursday October 18 at 10:30 AM (in Jeffery 101).

• The test covers chapters 3 and 4, and sections 5.1 and 5.2 in the textbook.
  Note that many decidability results rely on properties of finite automata and context-free grammars (chapters 1 and 2) and it is important to know well these concepts.
• This is a closed book test. You may bring one standard size (8.5 times 11 inch) sheet of notes and use it during the test.
• A practice midterm is available in PDF format. Solution is here.
• As discussed in class on Thursday, we will have a tutorial to go through the practice midterm questions on Tuesday October 16, 5:30 - 6:30 PM in Dunning Hall 10 (Dunning hall, room 10).

Assignment 1 solutions have been posted on the assignments page. Assignment 1 papers will be returned in class tomorrow Thursday.
Monday October 8 is a university holiday and there is no class. Have a good long weekend!
