Volunteer Activities

Graduate Advisor, IEEE Student Branch (2005-2009)
Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, Egypt
  • Coached the branch's executive committees for three years. Managed overall team motivation, conflict resolution, and transfer of experience between board members.
  • Founded and later directed the annual career conference, ‘Leading Your Career, Leading Your Society’ in 2005.
    Conference agenda took ~5 days, attracted ~250 students, and included 20+ representatives from industry, government and academia.
    Conference is still run annually by IEEE student branch executives.
  • Liaised with industry and government by organizing on-campus fairs, workshops, technical events, and tutorials.

  • Lead the branch from an inactive state to 20+ active volunteers and 200+ members.
  • Founder, Student Branch Center of Excellence: Granted $3500 from IEEE Student Services-USA to establish a Digital Signal Processing Laboratory.
  • Co-Founder, IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group.
